Björg Blöndal is vocalist and composer from Reykjavík, Iceland.
As composer, Björg strives to challenge the norm, searching for different sounds and textures. Her music could be described as melancholic and gloomy yet playful, with colourful and strong melodies. She strives to intertwine vocal characteristics, with use of extended technique, effect pedals and experimental methods. Creating openness and soundscapes, Björg is heavily influenced by Nordic folk music and seeks the simplicity which it possesses.
Her current main projects are her self-named quartet, Björg Blöndal's C4THERINE, and a duo collaboration with electric guitarist Thorkell Ragnar. Her debut album coming out on October 24th 2025, released by the young Norwegian label Fjordgata Records.
Björg graduated from her bachelors degree in jazz vocals from The Royal Conservatoire The Hague in 2023, with a distinction. She recently finished her masters studies in composition and performance in Scandinavia, studying at the University of Gothenburg, Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and The Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, as a part of the NoCoM programme exchange master.
